From finger drumming performances that rack up tons of views to production tutorials that inspire beatmakers around the world, BUCI BEATS has carved out a unique lane of her own.
Influenced by both Eastern artistic traditions and Western beat culture, she has built an international audience through her distinctive blend of Hip-Hop, Electronic music, Jazz influences, live performance, and creative storytelling.

Where Are You Originally From?
BUCI BEATS: I’m originally from China.
Growing up, I was deeply influenced by Chinese culture and traditional artistic values. Later, I became heavily inspired by Western music production, especially Hip-Hop, Electronic music, Jazz, and Beat culture. Over time, those influences naturally merged together in my work.
Today, my music reflects both Eastern musical sensitivity and modern Western production techniques, which has helped me develop a sound that feels culturally unique and recognizable.
What’s Your Favorite Part About Being Chinese And A Respected Beat Producer? Are People Surprised When They See Your Performances?
BUCI BEATS: I’m very proud to represent my Chinese identity through music.
I think one of the most meaningful things is being able to bridge cultures through sound. I grew up with traditional Chinese cultural influences, but I also fell in love with modern Western music production at a young age. Because of that, my music naturally combines different musical languages and perspectives.
People are sometimes surprised when they first see me because I don’t fit the stereotypical image many people have of a Hip-Hop producer or finger drummer. But once I start performing live or playing my productions, the reaction usually changes immediately.
What makes me happiest is seeing audiences genuinely connect with the music and feel joy or emotion from it. For me, I’ve simply stayed committed to doing what I love at a very high level.
Did You Have Mentors, Or Are You Mostly Self-Taught?
BUCI BEATS: I’m mostly self-taught.
I spent years studying music production through online resources, especially YouTube tutorials, production breakdowns, and live performance videos.
I’m very grateful to the creators and educators online who shared their knowledge.
You Make Finger Drumming Look Easy In Your Videos. How Long Did It Take You To Learn Your Craft?
BUCI BEATS: I started practicing finger drumming in 2022.
In the beginning, I spent hours every day working on rhythm, coordination, timing, and muscle memory.
Finger drumming became more than just a technique for me — it became another way to express musical ideas in real time.
When You’re Starting A New Track, Do You Begin With Melody Ideas Or Experimenting With Sounds?
BUCI BEATS: Honestly, it can start either way.
Sometimes I hear a melody first. Other times, inspiration comes from a drum groove, a bass texture, or a unique sound design idea.
For me, making music is very similar to writing a diary. It captures how I feel in a specific moment of life.
If Someone Is Discovering Your Music For The First Time Today, Which Track Should They Start With?
BUCI BEATS: I would recommend “Dripping.”
I clearly remember making that track during a difficult emotional period in my life.
I think “Dripping” represents the emotional side of my artistry very well, and I hope listeners can feel positive energy from it.
You’re Also Known For Your “Behind The Beats” Content. What Gear Did You Start With?
BUCI BEATS: When I first started, my setup was actually very simple: just a computer, a MIDI keyboard, and studio monitors.
Currently, my main production setup includes Ableton Live, the Arturia AstroLab, and MPC systems.
Transitioning Into A Full-Time Producer Can Be Difficult. What Have Been Your Biggest Challenges?
BUCI BEATS: I think the biggest challenge is consistency.
Modern producers also have to balance content creation, branding, communication, business partnerships, and social media.
What Advice Would You Give To Talented Producers Struggling To Make Their First Sale?
BUCI BEATS: Believe in your vision and stay consistent.
In Chinese culture, there’s a saying: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with accumulated small steps.”
Do You Currently Have Sponsor Support Or Major Partnerships?
BUCI BEATS: I currently work as an independent music producer and creative artist.
Looking Toward 2026 And Beyond, What’s A Dream Collaboration For You?
BUCI BEATS: My long-term goal is to collaborate with creators from different countries and creative disciplines to build new musical experiences.
What Makes Your Content Stand Out Internationally?
BUCI BEATS: I think people connect with authenticity.
A lot of my content combines live finger drumming, real-time arrangement, sound design, and visual storytelling.
What Role Has Social Media Played In Your Career?
BUCI BEATS: Social media completely changed my career.
It allowed me to share my music globally without waiting for traditional industry gatekeepers.
Last Words Or Shout-Outs?
BUCI BEATS: I’m very grateful to everyone who has supported my journey.
I hope to continue creating meaningful work, connecting with more people around the world, and representing Chinese creatives on a global stage.
