Georgia beatmaker CDZ, hailing from Marietta, delivers The Sampler a heavy 12-track instrumental pack built for heads who like their grooves dusty, sample-heavy, and pulled straight from the crates. Inspired by MF DOOM’s MM..FOOD, Food For The Soul takes that concept into its own lane, blending soul, funk, R&B, trip-hop, eclectic pop flips, loops, and head-nodding arrangements.
The opener is a dope Michael Jackson sample, while tracks like “NOTCHOSE SUPREME” bring a different energy with an uptempo Jungle switch-up. “LATENIGHTSNACK!” closes things out with a slick Gino Vannelli flip that sent me looking up the original for a little homework, that one had me checking the source like a crate-digger with a magnifying glass.
Every track carries a food-related title, giving the project a playful concept while the production stays serious. From “RAVIOLI AL FORMAGGI” to “THE DILEMMA” and “WE GOT FOOD AT HOME,” CDZ serves up a plate of funky samples, dusty chops, and beatmaker creativity. Shout out to Beat Tape Coop!
