ROAMCOUCH is a street artist from Gifu, Japan who specializes in high quality multi layer stencils. If you are looking for next level stencil work look no further as ROAMCOUCH has that covered!
When did you first get into street art or style writing culture?
It was about 12 years ago.
Who were some of the artist that inspired you?
The artists that shocked me the most were Logan hicks and Dolk. Also Eelus and Nick walker have had a huge impact on me.
Do you remember the first stencil you made?
Probably about 13 years ago. It was the first time I drew an illustration of Donald Duck and made it a stencil.
How would you describe street art and style writing in Japan?
Street art culture in Japan is still little mature. But that’s good for me. I prefer to draw in the empty countryside rather than in Miami or at a big art fair.
If you could collaborate with any writer or artist dead or alive who would it be?
Eelus and Nick Walker.
What do you want people to know about you and your artwork?
A tremendous amount of work. The process of making a stencil can be very long and rugged. But know that otherwise beautiful contradiction will not occur.
What countries would you like to travel to and do art in?
LA, UK, Norway and beautiful countryside.
What is your favorite paint to use?
Montana colors 94 and Posca.
How long does it take to make some of your larger stencils?
A few days per sheet. In the old days I took a week.
What inspires you to keep making artwork?
Lots of movies, music and subculture.
