When it comes to hip-hop innovation, few artists have built a catalog as distinct as Kool Keith. From his work with the Ultramagnetic MC’s to alter-egos like Dr. Octagon, Dr. Dooom, and Black Elvis, Keith has spent decades doing things his own way. Now the Bronx MC is back with Sonic Psychosis, a new album with producer and Redrum Recordz owner Mike Redman, dropping August 28, 2026.

Redman, known for his work with artists including Public Enemy and his Deformer project, handles the production on the 13-track album. The result is a heavy, off-kilter backdrop for Keith’s unmistakable style.

No AI, Just the Art

Sonic Psychosis comes with a clear statement in the liner notes: “no form of AI was used in creating this album.” That includes the hand-painted cover art, which features a cosmic backdrop, hypnotic imagery, and the kind of strange visual world that fits the album’s title.

Keith’s vocals sit over Redman’s production without losing the raw, left-field approach that has defined his work for decades. Redman’s beats give Keith plenty of room to do what he does best—take the song somewhere unexpected.

“What Keith does with words, Mike Redman does with his solid production. On ‘Sonic Psychosis’ Keith is razor-sharp, Mike’s production is heavy, unorthodox and the use of sounds make you want to listen to the album over and over again.”
