Mighty Delrokz’s new project Jackin’ My Beats, Vol. 1 is worth checking out. The 12-track release runs just over 22 minutes with no filler, just soulful flips, chopped samples, and melodic beats. If you love straight up boom bap, you’ll feel this one.
Delrokz has been spinning records, rocking parties, and sharing stages with hip hop icons like Roc Raida, DJ Apollo, DJ Shortkut, Skeme Richards, and more. That experience shows on this project. Straight-up boom bap head-nodders to chilled-out bangers.
Outside of making music, Delrokz is also the man behind The Stacks Record Shop in Hayward, California. It’s a spot where vinyl collectors, DJs, producers, and the local community come together. He also keeps the culture active by hosting events and putting people on to good music.
We stopped by The Stacks a few years back, and one of the photos we took in front of the shop ended up being used on their Instagram page. We also have some unreleased footage from that visit, including shots inside the shop of NoiseMan from BigNoise Radio digging through the crates. Time permitting, we might finally put that footage up on our youtube chanel.
If you’re anywhere near the East Bay, stop by The Stacks, check out the bins, and show some love. Stream Jackin’ My Beats, Vol. 1 online and support the artist.
