MiLKCRATE is an underground hip-hop producer and remixer based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Known for a heavy, traditional boom-bap production style, MiLKCRATE specializes in official and unofficial remixes, beat tapes, and collaborations featuring classic and underground emcees.
Released in August 2026 through Sherobee Records, Diganometry is a 12-track project showcasing MiLKCRATE’s signature approach to flipping classic and underground acapella verses over raw, Akai-sampled boom-bap production. MiLKCRATE comes through with a refreshing project that stays locked into sample-heavy boom-bap from beginning to end.
This was a dope listen, every song was on point, with plenty of standouts for heads who appreciate hard drums, DJ cuts, jazzy samples, and classic golden-era vibes.
The jump-off, “Back At It” with Jeru the Damaja, brings classic mid-nineties energy back with an addictive feel. MiLKCRATE’s production has that rugged boom-bap atmosphere, and Jeru sounds right at home over it. “Hillz Have Eyes” featuring A-F-R-O x Illa Ghee x Rim immediately grabs you with the hook, “The Hillz have eyes.”
Yeah, remember that horror flick. This track kicks just as hard, with Illa Ghee bringing the rawness to the record while A-F-R-O and Rim keep the energy revolving.
On “At All Costs,” Benny Slumz x Freddie Black x Tone Spliff bring an off-balance, almost drunken-style rhyme cadence that gives the track its own personality. The delivery works nicely over the production, while Tone Spliff’s scratches add that extra layer of turntablist flavor. T-Dot’s Raz Fresco gets busy on “The Dumb,” riding an uplifting, jazzy-type production on which he kills it.
“Real Recognize” featuring Recognize Ali x D-Styles is pure dopeness, with crispy horn work, rugged drums, and some dope cuts paired with Recognize Ali’s heavy bars. The turntable work brings another layer of flavor to an already hard-hitting track.
Like the title says, “Don’t Get Me Started” brings together Supreme Cerebral x The Beat Junkies for a remix that fits perfectly into MiLKCRATE’s style. We featured this track in a recent post as well, and it still holds up as one of the joints worth coming back to.
Finally, Nas x DJ Premier’s “Bouquet (To The Ladies)” gets a fly flip from MiLKCRATE. It’s a fresh take on that track that, in my opinion, hits even better than the original. One of my favorites is the LL Cool J sample, “Well, if you know who you are…”, bigging up all the ladies of RAP.
This is a dope project overall and a refreshing listen for anybody who still appreciates the classic sounds.
