In this interview we reached out to pioneer Dj Chuck Chillout on the phone. He talked about getting arrested for stealing electricity in the park for Djing, giving back to the community, and a new tv show in the works called “Keeping It Moving TV”…

For those who are not familiar with you what would you say was your most influential record?

I produced “Night Of The Living Baseheads” for Public Enemey, I did a couple of things on Mercury hmmm.. I would say Kool Chip & Chuck Chillout “Rhythm Is The Master”!

Coming up who was that dj you look up too? Mentors?

Your feelings on hip hop radio nowadays? The culture?

LOL, I like some of the music, but I think some of it could be a little better. I think this generation could be a little bit more respectful. Respectful to their women, and give positive messages to other cats that’s listening to them and pull them up. We did that.

Give someone knowledge and wisdom.. to the new artists trying to get in the game so they can better themselves in life. I think this generation need to do a little bit better with that.

Any new projects or music we should know about?

I’m in the process of working on a late night tv show.. we doing that. I’m still doing radio in New York at WBLS and Power 88 in Las Vegas.

Shows or tours coming up?

No tours coming up ..LOL..I was trying to get on that Nas and Mary J Blige tour..lol but it got a lil nervous there for a second, lol.. know what I’m sayin…lol!! But every year I do something in my neighborhood.

We just had the Old Timers event with Slick Rick, Mr Cheeks, Mc Daniels in the park. It was about two or three thousand people out there, it’s the same park i got arrested in for stealing electricity.

It’s so ironic I got and award there. I got arrested when I was seventeen. July 27th me and Rick got Summer Stage in Soundview. If you in town come through bro.

Last song you have on repeat?

LOL, I like that new Nicki Minaj.. lol

Your favorite super hero or supervillains?

My favorite hmmm.. I’d say Spider Man and Gigantor you old enough to remember him.. lol.

Your goals for the rest of 2019?

Spread positive messages try to help people, keep grinding out here do what I gotta do until god come get me and you know man… working diligently on this late night tv show, hip hop invades late night tv…”Keeping It Moving TV” is the name of the show. I have an Instagram page. I’m also on social media.

Words of advice for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

First thing don’t let nobody tell you.. you cant do this. Don’t let know body discourage you from your dreams. Don’t ever give up, don’t ever stop..that is my motto.

If you fail pick yo ass back up and go for it again! If you give up on your dreams the devil got you..never give up.
