The new Ras Ceylon “BuzzSaw” visual sees the Oakland-based artist stepping back into the cipher with weight on his shoulders and fire in the booth. The new visual for “BuzzSaw” feels less like a random single drop and more like a militant transmission from the Wu-Tang diaspora, dusty and sharp-edged.
Co-signed by Wu affiliate Timbo King and powered by the late Oliver “Power” Grant, the record carries that grimy energy that hip hop heads instantly recognize.
Ras Ceylon x 9th Prince x Timbo King “BuzzSaw” (Official Video)
Produced by 9th Prince, “BuzzSaw” sounds exactly like the title suggests, rugged drums cutting through the mix while Ras Ceylon attacks the beat with focused rhymes. The chemistry between Ras, Timbo King, and 9th Prince feels natural, like three Titans building in the same chamber.
There’s a realness to the production that throws you back to those early Staten Island tapes. Visually, the video shot at “The Wall” in Park Hill, Shaolin, sacred ground for Wu history, was filmed during the homegoing services of Oliver “Power” Grant.
Ras Ceylon an Oakland based artist has always occupied a unique lane in underground hip hop. As one of the first Sri Lankan MCs to carve out space in the western hip hop canon, he’s spent years blending militant lyricism, reggae spirit, street politics, and global consciousness without sounding forced or preachy.
On “BuzzSaw,” that balance remains intact. The message never overshadows the bars, and the bars never dilute the message Scrollz of Lion Rock drops Friday, June 19.
Underground heads, Wu supporters, and anyone missing real principled hip hop should keep this one on the radar.
