Shabaam Sahdeeq out of Brooklyn, cut his name in the late 90s underground scene during the Rawkus Records era.
He appeared alongside artists including Busta Rhymes, Redman, Method Man, Kool G Rap, Common, Mos Def, and Eminem, and worked within the Soundbombing and Lyricist Lounge series during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Shabaam Sahdeeq and producer Es-K don’t just meet those expectations on Outside the Lines, they redefine them. True to its title, this album is a declaration of nonconformity.
Shabaam Sahdeeq sounds as hungry and sharp as he did during the 90’s but brings a layer of hard-won perspective that only a true veteran can deliver.
One of the standouts that is crazy is “Cold Truth.” It’s Nas-like. Shabaam paints pictures with this one, some real grown-man shit. He covers the underground, the industry, selling out, racism, and being an entrepreneur.
“Top Tier” featuring General Steele is another nice one. “Scalpels and Forceps” featuring Ruste Juxx and U.G. (of Cella Dwellas) is killer! Actually, this whole album is a non-skipper. “Tea Reflections” featuring Queen Herawin and Apollos is another standout, and there’s also an appearance on “Windows Down” featuring Nashville’s iLL Dose and Slim Chance.
Top Tier by Shabaam Sahdeeq feat General Steele prod. by Es-K

Es-K’s rich soul-baring productions provide the ideal canvas for Shabaam’s seasoned lyricism. This is grown-man rap that feels urgent, sharp, and personal.
Outside the Lines is a reminder of why Shabaam Sahdeeq remains one of the underground’s most respected voices. Shabaam continues to evolve without losing the hunger that made him a standout in the 90’s. Es-K’s production gives the project a cinematic backdrop that complements every bar.
If you’re a fan of authentic NYC boom-bap, thoughtful lyricism, and albums that reward front-to-back listening, Outside the Lines deserves a spot in your rotation.
MRC Promo 1 : A non-skipper packed with conscious bars, storytelling, soulful production, and grown-man perspectives from one of Brooklyn’s most persistent underground MCs.
