We Run NYC just dropped the fourth installment of their legendary series, tapping into New York City’s subway writing culture from 2020 to 2025.
This is a cinematic document of modern NYC metro style-writing. The footage is on point, making you feel as if you’re there in the Big Apple, watching firsthand as the painted colors roll by.
Whether you’re a head or a newcomer, the visuals of whole-cars and panels rolling through the five boroughs give you a rush if you enjoy the artwork and also appreciate the skill it took for the artists to get up. From the looks of some of the riders, most are caught by surprise at the mobile canvases.
Spray Daily says: “We do not condone, promote or encourage vandalism or destruction of property, either public or private. We are just documenting the world’s biggest, and maybe also most popular, art movement.” The film runs a little less than an hour.
Some of the segments tap in briefly with quick footage on themes like cannabis, sneaker culture like Air Jordans, and 8-Ball Bomber jackets worn by random people on the street. The film also captures painters inside the tunnels getting busy. Even with the MTA’s move toward stainless steel and increased surveillance, Not Guilty 4 proves that the spirit of the 80’s is alive and well.
The soundtrack for Not Guilty 4 features a mix of rap, metal, and electronic tracks that mirror the energy of the video.
