Brooklyn Lo-fi indie hip-hop artist Theophilus London is working on making a comeback after a disappointing release in 2015 (Vibes!) and a collaboration with Kanye West (Can’t Stop) that highlighted Kanye, but left London in the background. In 2019, Theo London released the album Bebey, with a title track first single, but the highlight for me is Whiplash. Whiplash features Tame Impala, an electronic outfit mostly contributing Daft Punk style synthesizers and poppy beats to London’s smart and punchy vocals.
Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon joins London on a track on Bebey, and the whole album is set up to be a trip through 70’s funk and electronic beats. London is also featured on a Tame Impala single titled Only You.
